Sheikh Ahmed Taha Rayan

Shaykh Ahmed Taha Rayyan was born in Luxor, Egypt in 1357 AH / 1939. He grew up in a blessed and pious household that was distinguished for its knowledge and righteousness. He memorized the Quran, completed his primary and secondary education, and was raised on the teachings of Sufism and faith in the gatherings of Shaykh Muhammad Zaki Ibrahim and Shaykh Abdal Halim Mahmud.


He pursued further education and earned a master's degree, then a doctorate, and later became a professor after completing his studies at the College of Sharia and Law. He held several academic positions, including the deanship of the College of Sharia and Law in Assiut and the presidency of the Comparative Jurisprudence Department at his college in Cairo, among others. He made numerous scholarly contributions and was known for his exemplary character. He passed away due to the COVID-19 virus in 1442 AH / 2021.
