Sheikh Muhammad Bakhit Al-Mutaie

He is Sheikh Shams al-Din Muhammad bin Bakhit bin Hussein al-Muti’i. He was born - may God have mercy on him - in the town of al-Muti’ah, the center and district of Assiut, on the 10th of Muharram in the year 1271 AH corresponding to the year 1856 AD. He went to his hometown book at the age of four, learned to read and write, and memorized the Holy Qur’an in its entirety and quality, then joined Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in the year 1282 AH, and he was a Hanafi school of thought, and he was a student of the great sheikhs in and outside Al-Azhar, and among them were Sheikh Muhammad Alish, Abd Al-Rahman Al-Sherbiny, and Ahmed Al-Rifai, Ahmed Mennat Allah, Al-Saqa, Muhammad Al-Khudari Al-Masry, Hassan Al-Taweel, Muhammad Al-Bahuti, Abdul Rahman Al-Bahrawi, Muhammad Al-Fadali Al-Jarwati, Sayyid Jamal Al-Din Al-Afghani, and others. He also met Bediuzzaman Saeed Nursi. He received the international certificate of the first degree in the year 1294 AH, and he was blessed with the honorary clothing of the third degree as a reward for his brilliance and grace. His positions: In the year 1295 AH, he worked by teaching the sciences of jurisprudence, monotheism and logic until he was appointed as a judge for Qalyubia in the year 1297 AH 1880 AD, then as a judge for Minya in 1298 AH, then he moved to the Port Said district in the year 1300 AH, then to the Suez district in the year 1302 AH, then Fayoum in the year 1304 AH and then Assiut in the year 1309 AH - And his promotion in the judiciary continued until he was appointed a Sharia inspector at the Al-Haqqaniya glasses (Ministry of Justice) in the year 1310 AH, and in the year 1311 AH he was appointed as a judge for the city of Alexandria and head of its Sharia Council, and in the year 1315 AH he was appointed as a first member of the Sharia Court of Egypt, then as head of its Scientific Council, and in this In the meantime, he deputized for the judge of Egypt, Sheikh Abdullah Jamal al-Din, for six months during his illness, until a replacement was appointed, then he left him in 1905 AD. Then he was appointed president of the Alexandria Sharia Court in 1907 AD, then he was transferred from it to the Haqqaniyah Department of Fatwa in early 1912 AD. The judiciary of Egypt was referred to him again on behalf of Judge Nassib Effendi, then he was referred, along with the Haqqaniyah Fatwa, to lead the Sharia Inspection there. He assumed the position of fatwa: On the 9th of Safar in the year 1333 AH corresponding to the 26th of December 1914 AD, he was appointed as the Grand Mufti of Egypt, and he continued to occupy this position until the 16th of Shawwal in the year 1338 AH 1920 AD, when he was referred to the pension, during which he issued (2028) a fatwa. Among his qualities and attributes: His virtue - may God have mercy on him - was the genius of his time and the imam of his era, and he was characterized as a solver of problems and a man of dilemmas, and he was prominent in the science of principles and the deduction of legal rulings, and he was firmly attached to the truth, forgetting his own interests in order to support the truth, and he was constantly teaching the legal sciences Transference and mentality for students of noble knowledge wherever he is, and he has studied lengthy books in the sciences of interpretation, hadith, jurisprudence, fundamentals of jurisprudence, monotheism, philosophy, logic, and others. Many of the best scholars who benefited people with their knowledge graduated from his virtue, and the ranks of those he graduated from among the students reached the fourth class or beyond, and from those who graduated from him were Mr. His death: He passed away - may God have mercy on him - on the 21st of Rajab in the year 1354 AH, corresponding to the 18th of October 1935 AD, after a life full of knowledge and work.
