Sheikh Idris bin Abdullah Al Mandili

its name:

Abu Muhammad Idris bin Abdullah bin Idris Al-Mandili Al-Shafi’i Al-Makki.

His birth:

He was born, may God have mercy on him, on Friday 6/27/1340 AH in the city of Vadeng Sdamfuan, Tabnoli, North Sumatra, Indonesia.

He joined the Institute of Islamic Sciences and stayed there for three years until he graduated. He memorized the texts there and learned the Arabic language, so he recited it under the guidance of his sheikh, Al-Kayahi Ahmed bin Dawood, may God have mercy on him (and he is one of the students of the Shafi’i Mufti in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Mr. Abdullah Al-Zawawi, may God have mercy on him). He embarked on al-Kawakib al-Duriyyah, on monotheism, the belief of the common people and the sufficiency of the common people, and on Shafi’i jurisprudence, helping the students of Sayyid Bakri Shata al-Makki, may God have mercy on him, and on behavior and education, teaching the learner and the methodology of the worshipers of Imam al-Ghazali, may God have mercy on him.

In the year 1363 AH, he moved to Makkah Al-Mukarramah to gain legal knowledge at the hands of the scholars of the Hijaz and the scholars of Egypt.

His lessons:

Scholars participated in teaching at the Grand Mosque, so he studied the Holy Qur’an according to the narration of Hafs on the authority of Asim (in the right of the interior from the door of the opening in the expansion) from 1390 AH until 1432 AH after the evening prayer, and he also taught in his former house in Khalidiyah, as is the custom of the scholars of the Sacred Country.

His students and disciples:

The sheikh, may God have mercy on him, the Blessed and Most High, has a large number of students. Some of them read Shafi’i jurisprudence to him, and some of them read grammar to him, and some of them read the Holy Qur’an to him, and he took from him the permission to read the Holy Qur’an with the narration of Hafs on the authority of Asim. Lebanon, Sheikh Professor Dr. Salim Alwan, Secretary General of Dar Al-Fatwa in Australia, as well as a number of university doctors from Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Kuwait University, from Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates, and most of them read a number of Sharia books to him and he approved them in them, may God Almighty have mercy on him.

His death, may God Almighty have mercy on him:

He passed away in Makkah Al-Mukarramah on Wednesday 11/10/1441 and was buried in Al-Mu’alla cemetery, may God have mercy on him and grant him the highest place in Paradise.
