Sharif Abdullah bin Faraj Al-Sharif

Sharif Abdullah bin Faraj Al-Abdali Al-Hasani, may Allah have mercy on him, was a scholar of Islamic jurisprudence and its principles, a spiritual educator, and a journalist (1361-1443 AH). He was born in the city of Taif in 1941 and received his early education in its traditional schools where he learned the principles of reading, writing, Islamic law, and Quranic recitation.


He then attended Al-Azizia School in Taif for his primary education and completed his preparatory and secondary education at Dar Al-Tawhid School under the guidance of teachers from Syria and Egypt representing the renowned Al-Azhar school of Islamic law. Sharif Abdullah also furthered his religious education by attending lessons at the Holy Mosque in Makkah and frequently attending lectures delivered by the most prominent callers to Allah in the Kingdom during that era.


In addition to his extensive knowledge of Islamic sciences, Sharif Abdullah had a keen interest in culture, making him one of the well-known intellectual elites in the Kingdom. His articles were regularly published in Saudi newspapers, and he authored several religious and cultural works. He also participated in numerous cultural meetings and conferences in Egypt, Morocco, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Turkey, and other countries.


He passed away on Thursday, 14th of Dhu al-Hijjah, 1443 AH. His funeral prayer was held in the Holy Mosque in Makkah, and he was buried in Shu'bah an-Nur in Jannat Al-M'ala cemetery. May Allah shower mercy on him.
